Introduction to Creative Writing:
This course will introduce you to the skills and tools needed for a creative writer. We will explore reading and writing of various genres. This is a process workshop course so there will be much experimental work in class, and a variety of assignments to get you to try new things.
 
Emphasis will be placed on discussion, re-visioning your work, and class critiques. Class critiques will provide you with the opportunity to give and receive feedback.
 
Prewriting activities will be used (brainstorming, mapping, and/or graphic planners)
 
You will be expected to present each step of your written work in a clear and well-organized way.
 
You will be working with others through the initial stages of writing which can often be helpful. 
 
Tip sheets or checklists will be used to help you stay on track, as well as technology to support complex areas like editing and grammar.

YOGA -1
 
This class is an activity and participation course; the specific task/exercise(s) for students to complete will be demonstrated.  Students will then complete the task/exercise(s) to the best of their ability.
 
The purpose of this course is to learn the rules, fundamentals, skills & strategies of yoga. Learn how to correctly execute required skills and techniques as well as to use the equipment/facilities safely. And understand how kinesiology relates to a healthy individual lifestyle.  By actively participating in an activity class, the student may gain health benefits such as improved body composition, increased flexibility, increased muscular endurance and increased muscular strength.  Participating in activity classes leads to a healthier lifestyle.
 
Students work within their own comfort level and pace.
 
Learn various asanas (postures) using hatha yoga & the Iyengar method.
 
Learn breathing techniques.
 
Improve strength, flexibility and the sense of well-being.
 
Increase relaxation of body and soul.
 
 
For both classes, an initial intake session is scheduled to assess the strengths and needs of each client and to determine placement. Sessions are scheduled on an individual basis to best meet the needs of clients.

All onsite classes require an intake session and are scheduled on individualized basis.
All classes are provided by licensed personnel and supervised by a licensed program director.
